A KALOTASZEGI NÉPVISELET. — Az a népfaj, a mely a Kaiotapataktöl Kolozsvårig terjedö vidéket lakja, szokåsok.és viselctek dolgâban a tôbbi magyarsàgtôl különbözik. Sajàtsàgaik legjobban Bànffy-Hunyadon észlelhetôk, mert e mezôvâros laköi, mint köztük legvagyonasabbak, leginkâbb képesek a kôltséges szokâsoknak kifcjezést adni. Az âtlag sugàrkarcsû, arânyos, kerckded idomû, bâjos arczu nök fcstöi öltözetükben mcglepö jelenséget képeznek. VOLKSTRACHT IN KALOTASZEG. — Das Volk, welches die Gegenden vom Kalotabach bis Klausenburg bewohnt, obwohl ebenfalls kernmagyarisch, unterscheidet sich dennoch wesentlich in Tracht und Gebrauchen von den übrigen Ungarn. Diese Eigenthümlichkeiten machen sich besonders im Markte Bänffv-Hunyad bemerkbar. Besonders die zumeist schlanken, ebenmässig ge- bauten oft recht hübschen Frauen und Mädchen überraschen durch ihre malerische Kleidung. Die Stickereien der Frauen aus Kalotaszeg haben weit über Ungarns Grenzen einen guten Ruf und verkünden deren Handarbeiten im Lande unter dem Namen «Kalotaszegi varrottas» bekannt — in' Allem die seltene Geschicklichkeit und den guten Geschmack dieses begabten Volklems. COSTUMES NATIONAUX A KALOTASZEG. — La contrée comprise entre le cours d’eau dit «Kalotapatak» et la ville de Kolozsvår, chef-lieu de la Transyl- vanie est habitée par des hongrois d’origine magyar par excellence, mais qui different cependant des autres magyars par leurs us et coutumes et notamment par leurs costumes bariolés. C’est surtout dans la petite bourgade Banffy-IIunyad dont les habitants jouissent d’une certaine aisance, que ce constraste est frappant. Les costumes des femmes et des jeunes filles parmi lesquelles on rencontre de très beaux types, sont très originaux et des plus seyants. Les broderies connues sous le nom de «Kalotaszegi varrotas» qu’exécutent les femmes de Kalotaszeg sont très renommées. POPULAR COSTUMES AT KALOTASZEG. — The race which inhabits the tract of country between Klausenburg and Kalotapatak, differs in dress and habits from the other Hungarians. These peculiarities are most noticable at Bânffy-Hunyad, becausé the inhabitants of this market-town, being well-to-do people, can well afford to indulge in these somewhat expensive habits. The women, who as a rüle are well buillt nice looking and of good stature, look surprisingly characteristic in their picturesque costumes. The fame of the em- broideries of Kalotaszeg, which they make, has travelled far beyond the limits of Hungary, and «Kaloteszeg-needlwork» testifies to their good taste and wonderful skill, which is all selftaught.
