DAS THAL DER JÅD. — Das Thal der reissenden Körös, oberhalb Rév’s gehört zu den herrlichsten Gegenden der kgl. ungar. Staatsbahnen. Unser Bild stellt eine grössere Ausbuchtung dieses Thales dar, unweit der Mündung des Jåd- thales in dasselbe. Das letztere Thal, eine ununterbrochene Kette der wild- romantischesten Landschaften, zieht sich weit bis zu den schneedurchfurchten Riesenbergen von Bihar hinauf, wo nur Aare und Geier hausen. Wer sich an den Herrlichkeiten einer grossartigen Natur ergötzen will, der findet hier die geeigneteste Stätte dazu. Aber schon dringt das industrielle Treiben auch da vor, und verdrängt hie und da die Romantik der Berge und Thäler. LA VALLÉE DE JÅD (JÀDVÔLGY). La ravissante valléede la Körös compte parmi les plus belles contrées de la Hongrie. Notre gravure représente cette vallée en amont de Rév, à sa jonction avec la vallée de Jåd d’où une voie de raccordement greffée sur la ligne principale des chemins de fer de l’Etat hongrois, se développe le long de la rivière de Jåd, pour aboutir à l’établis- sement industriel de Remecz. La vallée de Jåd est une suite de paysages charmants et romantiques qui se succèdent jusqu’aux montagnes de Bihar. Qui- conque aime à contempler en silence les beautés de la Nature, trouvera là encore maints endroits propices où n’ont par encore pénétré les pionniers du Progrès. THE VALLEY OF THE JÅD. — The valley of the swift Kôrôs, above Rév, is one of the finest landscapes in Hungary. Our illustration represents the entracce of the Jåd valley at the point, where a local line, leads from tbe State railways along the Jåd river to the industrial establishment of Remecz, The wild romantic landscape of the Jåd valley, extends into the glacier range of Bihar, which only birds can reach. Those who desire to escape from the turmoil of the world, will find here the desired spot. But industries, with their smoke and noise, are already fighting against romanticism, and probably will disloge her from this refuge in the near future. 13
